studio journal

little updates from a little room full of paint, paper, petals and big magical ideas

November 10, 2024: A cozy, rainy Sunday spent in the Studio… I’ve been quietly painting and playing in the studio today. Inspired by the scents of Autumn leaves after the rain and the blazing reds, yellows, and oranges now laying on the damp earth, ready to nourish the soil for next year. I’m feeling very connected to it all and also very grateful for all the sweet time to create today. I filmed a little video of a watercolor warmup. You can watch it here. I also recorded another process video that I look forward to sharing. For that video, I filmed my mixed media techniques. I have some very old little works that I wanted to repurpose, so I’ve created mixed media collages using pressed flowers, papers, and paint. You will be able to watch that video very soon, so stay tuned for it! In the meantime, I hope you are also enjoying this time of year.

Finally, I added two new little cabin paintings to the Gift Shop. I hope you enjoy them!

November 5, 2024: Mid Autumn Greetings to you my friends!

As I promised, I’m sharing the finished versions of the moonlit path scenes!

If you follow me on Patreon, you know that I was using tiny bits of pressed Autumn leaves to create the field of flowers in the larger work. I have also added some additional collaged paper elements and more paint to the scene and I am now finally happy to share the completed works. These just feel so good to me. I want to spend some more time gazing into these paths so these are not yet available for sale, but stay tuned… more to come! If you love fairys, fantasy, full moon art, or enchanted forests, these will be perfect additions to your collection. I will likely be offering prints as well so keep checking the shop or sign up for my newsletter to get updates.

October 28, 2024: Autumn’s beauty leaves me in a constant state of awe, as if I’m seeing it for the very first time each year. The colors, the shapes, the way the light touches each leaf—it all feels like magic to me. Lately, I’ve been collecting and pressing these little treasures, preserving bits of the season to weave into my art.

In the first photo, you can see how I’ve placed delicate leaf fragments into a field of flowers, blending them into a world I’ve collaged and painted. And that last photo—well, it’s a moody, underexposed peek at the piece in its current form. There’s something so dramatic about how it photographed here, though in reality, the colors are much brighter and full of life. I’ll be sharing the final version with you very soon! I am still adding some final touches, but stay tuned!
