Cosmic Dancer
Are you a dreamer too? Do you feel how the moon pulls us and leads us on a dance through our lives?
On a star lit path, a maiden runs wild with carefree abandon under the giant orb — the full moon. Her skirt is made of a cherry blossom branch. I painted the leaves gold to portray the golden moonlight falling onto her as she ascends the moonbeam path.
I was also excited to use one of the dandelions I had pressed…it was in the “fuzzy” stage so this was quite tedious, but it turned out beautifully on the canvas. This piece contains real pressed flowers that I grew, pressed, and preserved. Daisies, elm tree seeds, hellebores, dogwood blooms, cherry blossoms, and and wildflowers all make an appearance here.
May this piece remind you to savor the magic of summer on a moonlit evening.

The practice of creating artistic scenes with pressed flowers is known as Oshibana. Being a fan of Japanese culture and history, I find great joy in participating in this tradition. Originating in 16th century Japan, this art form entails arranging pressed flowers to form a composition.
