Then there was the ancient Oak that my best friend and I used to visit after picking wild raspberries. It was a wise, ancient creature, holding secrets that only those patient enough could uncover. The thick roots seemed to stretch deep into the earth, anchoring it to something far beyond my understanding. Even now, as an artist, that childhood connection influences the way I approach my work.
