She Hangs Brightly
This piece is a celebration of the magical and mysterious natural world and represents all of my love reflected back. There is wisdom in the woods, in the petal of a flower, and a forest is sleeping in every seed.
When creating the original piece, I first painted the background and made the moon scene. I then used real pressed flowers to create the garden of flowers and then embellished the swirls and twirls designs by hand. I drew the 4 gold paper moths and then cut them out of yupo paper, painted them gold and placed them in the scene. I used twine to make the swing upon which the vintage image of a woman swings peacefully over the night garden. The tree branch from which she hangs, is a real twig from a tree that provides a bounty of the most delicate and beautiful seed pods that I frequently use in my pieces. (Thank you sweet tree!) I then added the stars and spinning galaxies.
I hope that this magical scene entices you to relax and savor all the little intricate things that nature brings us. โฃ
The practice of creating artistic scenes with pressed flowers is known as Oshibana. Being a fan of Japanese culture and history, I find great joy in participating in this tradition. Originating in 16th century Japan, this art form entails arranging pressed flowers to form a composition.I hope that this magical scene entices you to relax and savor all the little intricate things that nature brings us. โฃ
